WHAT CAN THIS SEARCH SYSTEM BE USED FOR?

This computer application allows users to retrieve a list of national trademarks, trade names, business signs (if the search is done using the national trademark locator), international trademarks that designate Spain (if the search is done using the international trademark locator) and community trademarks (if the search is done in the community trademark locator) which have been applied for or registered with the following search criteria:

Search by Name

Allows search of national and international trademarks by their name.

Search by the Vienna Classification (Figurative Elements)

Locates national and international trademarks according to the Vienna classification of figurative elements.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO USE THIS SERVICE?

There is no charge for this search.

WHAT INFORMATION DOES THE SEARCH RETURN?

First, the result of your search will return a list of the applications or registrations located (up to a maximum of 200), ordered in ascending order by registration category and file number. Rejected, cancelled or lapsed registrations will not be included. For each registration or application presented in the list, the following information will be indicated:

• Registration category (trademark = M; trade name = N; business sign = R; international trademark = H).
• Application or registration number.
• Distinctive sign and its type (denominative, denominative and graphic, or only graphic).
• o Classes of the Nice Classification for which they have been applied for or registered.

Second, if you wish to see other details on any of the applications or registrations presented in the preceding table, you can click on the "more info" button for that application or registration. In this case, the locator will return the following data:

• Registered owner of the application or registration.
• Name of the application or registration.
• Type of distinctive sign.
• Status (in force or pending, specifying the last relevant action for these purposes).
• Date of publication in the BOPI or of the last relevant action indicated in the preceding section.
• Nice class/es for which the trademark has been applied for or registered.
• Reproduction of the trademark's distinctive sign, if it is not strictly a denominative trademark. In some cases, the distinctive sign will not be automatically displayed and you will have to click on "see image". In some cases you will see the indication "image not available", if the image is not in the database.
• List of the goods/services, ordered by classes, for which the trademark has been applied for or registered. In the case of partial awards or restrictions of products or services, an indication will be given of the classes requested, the ones granted, the ones rejected and the ones granted with restrictions, specifying the products/services for which they have been awarded.

Information on the different distinctive sign registration categories managed by this Office (trademarks, trade names and business signs) can be found at this Office's website www.oepm.es, in "Distinctive Signs". That heading also features the list of products and services included in each class of the International Nomenclature: List of Goods and Services Classes (Nice Classification 9th edition, 2007).

HOW CAN THE INFORMATION OBTAINED BE EXTENDED?
